Beginning New Traditions

Our kids are still very young. They kinda just go with the flow right now, (for the most part) and it just feels like the opportunities are endless for beginning new traditions in our family.

Im trying to think of new traditions to incorporate during the holiday season.

So far the newest contender is the carving of pumpkins. We didn’t really grow up doing it. So, its been a fun new experience. We’ve enjoyed carving these past two years. Maybe we can make that an annual thing as well.

Every November we watch Harry Potter. We break down a movie into 3 viewings. Since there are 8 films, it definitely last throughout the month of November for us.

Once December hits we begin with Lord of the Rings, Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Elf , It’s a Wonderful Life and any Christmas related film.

For new years eve, we go to my moms and sign our little hearts out. We also wait until midnight to step outside with luggage and run around as far as we can. This symbolizes how far we would like to travel. And while we may look like the biggest fools out in the cold running around in circles, it always seems to work. We usually end up traveling that year.

On new years day we build a lego set. It’s actually quite enjoyable. I love it! So far they have all been Harry Potter themed.

Apparently, I started this tradition in 2020.

We began watching HP last night and so I thought today about sharing some of our new family traditions. Can’t wait to incorporate more. It’s been so fun making new memories with our littles.

If you have any fun family traditions, I would love to hear all about them.

Until next time!- Crystal, the stay at home rookie
